Ouachita CAC Service Offerings.

Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) provides comprehensive evaluation services for children of all ages. These services include professional interviews, medical investigations, therapy and more.

What to Expect…

Upon arrival.

When you arrive at our child-friendly center, you will be welcomed by an Advocate and shown to our Family Room. This cozy space, filled with toys, is designed to help your child feel comfortable. The Advocate will briefly explain the process and answer any questions. There will be snacks and drinks available for your child.

Soon after, the forensic interviewer will greet your child and accompany them to the interview room. You will stay with your child until the interview begins, and you’ll be reunited immediately afterward. Rest assured, your child will be well cared for in a safe, supportive environment by highly trained professionals during the brief time they are apart from you.

During the Interview.

While your child is being interviewed, you will meet with your Family Advocate. Every family referred to the Child Safety Center is assigned a Family Advocate. This person is your primary point of contact and support as you navigate the various systems and agencies involved in protecting your child. Your Family Advocate will meet with you during your child’s interview to address concerns, answer questions, and discuss any needed support.

They will also assist in connecting you and your child with evidence-based mental health services, as well as any other community resources you may need. Family Advocates provide ongoing support, accompanying families to court, assisting with orders of protection, and offering information about victim’s rights and the Victim Compensation program.

Ongoing Support.

In the months following the interview, your Family Advocate will stay in touch to provide updates on the investigation, ensure continued engagement in services, and offer ongoing support as your family moves toward healing. If your case proceeds to court, you will also be assigned a Victim Witness Advocate (VWA) from the District Attorney’s Office. The VWA will keep you informed about court proceedings and help with trial preparation. However, your CAC Family Advocate will remain available to assist you at any time.
